There is actually a cool story behind this late 40’s Martin Style 2 Soprano Ukulele. It came in to our shop recently from a family who’s father happens to know the family of C.F Martin. Chuck a pro golfer of the 50’s would hang with the likes of Sinatra and other interesting characters of that time. He received this as a gift from the Martin Family while on a trip in Hawaii around 1949. Yeah it’s a cool story indeed however it’s just a story for those who like providence, we have no reason to believe why the family would fabricate such a story however if you met this guy you would believe it was true, we just can’t prove it but it is interesting.

When we called Martin and talked to the historian he was able to verify that the tuners on this model are waverly model #2014’s which were first used on Martin style 2’s in 1949. Keeping this in mind and the story behind when the Ukulele was received as a gift we think we can safely date this Martin Ukulele between 1949 and 1950.

So if your looking for a cool old vintage Martin style 2 Ukulele that plays great and has a story then we think you just found it.

Everything on this Ukulele is original however one of the tuner screws broke. When the tension screw was loosened. The screw broke off so the tuner had to be replaced. The old tuner is in the case with this uke.

There are some cracks on the back that have been repaired in the past which can be seen in the photos.

The original Martin Logo is still intact on the front of the peg-head.

The action is nice and the tuners work.

The case is a feather weight case so it is not the original case.
