This is THE guitar you've been looking for!! Very special Les Paul for sale here, and somebody out there in Reverb Land has been searching high and low for a very special LP to take home, and add to their collection..... and the hunt for that special guitar is gonna end right here!!
Everybody verbally hypes up their guitars when selling on this site and others, for better or worse it's understandable and we totally get it.... but when we hype this LP we are being 110% honest that we've had the pleasure to play, buy, sell many, many Les Paul's over the years and we know a great one that's a cut above when we come across it. And this 1980 Gold Top is definitely a cut above, this guitar is VERY hard to put down!! It may sound cliché but this old girl practically plays itself, once in awhile you pick up a guitar and it reminds you of when you first fell in love with the guitar, it has that "old friend" feeling and playing her just feels so effortless and incredibly fun. There's a few guitars that once in awhile come in that I REALLY wanna add to my personal collection and selfishly take it home... but business is business so unfortunately here it is for sale!!
The neck is a perfect C shape, that's just a hair on the slimmer side of a medium C and fits the hand like an old glove, playing up and down the neck is fast and easy, thanks in part to a professional set up that was just recently done...... the action is low and buttery smooth. The tone is to die for! This Paul has the original, and first year of production Tim Shaw designed humbuckers which are simply bad ass!! It's easily some of the best sounding PUPs we been fortunate to take for a test drive! Some people say they're as good, if not better than the real deal vintage 59' PAF's from back in the day, and to that our response would be.... you're not wrong! Offered for only a few short years in the '80s, the Shaws are designed with unoriented, rough cast Alnico V magnets, plastic spacers, and poly-coated wire, achieving the harmonic complexity, power, and tonal clarity of the original PAF. The Shaws have a sweet, singing quality, with rich harmonic content and a very dynamic sound. We have taken the time to make a demo a video of this guitar so you can hear and see it in closer detail, so please stay tuned or add this to your watch list and come back later as we just filmed it this morning and will be uploaded soon.
This guitar weighs 9lbs 12oz on our scale here at the shop. Overall excellent condition for it's age in our opinion, there is some minor dings and bumps on the body. a small piece of binding on the neck that has chipped off, and part of the finish on the back of the neck has been worn through from playwear over time which is also a testament to how well this guitar plays, it has some honest playwear on it.
