1985 Fender Performer for sale!! These awesome guitars had a very small window of manufacturing during 1985 and 1986 due to change in Fender's ownership, and a relocation of their manufacturing plant. There's only a few hundred of these made, and their collectability is increasing every year. No longer an overlooked guitar in the vintage world. They are increasingly sought after, and those who have had the lucky opportunity to play one know exactly how bitchin' these are! Super fun to shred on, and has really killer tone, it operates like a like TBX tone control system before those came around. The tone knob has stacked pots with a center detent making 1 to 5 and 6 to 10 uniquely different sounding with a turn of the knob. The two slanted humbucker Pups are set at a reversed angle than what you would find on a Strat or Tele. The coils were offset to keep the magnets inline with the strings. It also features a 3 way pickup selector switch, and a coil-tap switch to provide a sweet humbucking sound or a brighter single coil tone, and of course there's a volume knob to round it all out. The unique shape and style of this guitar were designed by John Page to have a heavy metal look, as Fender was looking compete with the stylings of Jackson, Kramer, B.C. Rich etc... Check out the RADICAL Fender logo on the headstock!! Critics say it looks like a Fender logo trying to look like a Peavy logo, but I digress. This guitar is in excellent condition, no if, ands, or buts about it. Please see the photos for a visual description of the blemishes we were able to detect upon our thorough inspect/evaluation.
