An absolutely gorgeous sounding J-50 with a rich, deep, powerful voice that projects exceptionally well & can fill any room. This can easily hold its own against any other dreadnought or jumbo for that matter. Super cool, true vintage look with nice lacquer checking and a really comfortable, familiar feel. Professionally set up & ready to play straight out of the case, with purchase. This particular J-50 has a very nice booming projection! She really sings, with a powerful voice. The vigorous, charged voice has an energetic warmth, and the middle register in particular pops off the strings. The completely opened up spruce top gives the guitar a monstrous projection and responsiveness, and you can thank the decades of players who have lovingly strummed this guitar to help achieve that opened up sound. Of course, this J-50 has some play wear befitting its almost six decades of life, but the guitar is still in prime playing condition, and has a very confident vintage look to it.

Period correct hard shell case may be original, there are no branding or identifying markers in or on the case. The guitar has some patina and honest play wear visible throughout (see photos) and lacquer checking. There's a number 2 under the SN# which we all know stands for a factory second if Gibson employees detected a blemish or imperfection in the construction. After 56 years of being around we cannot detect today what an employee saw all those years ago, as we do not see any breaks, repairs, or mods that were performed. There's lot's of reading up you can do about the 2 on the headstock including some speculation that employees would sometimes designate their favorite guitars that way to incur a discounted price..... which honestly is quite possible in this instance as this guitar is really, really, nice and plays wonderfully! If we had to take a wild guess in this particular guitar we did notice that the ink stamp is missing and not visible through the sound hole, and that could possibly be the reason for the afore mentioned designation. This guitar only shows some typical wear on the frets but is still very playable. Frets and fingerboard could use a quick cleanup during the next restring, which we will perform after purchase.
