George Lowden has been building master quality guitars for over 40 years, principally from his workshops in his native Ireland. A legend among flat top players, Lowden branched into innovative gut-string instruments some years ago, developing what he calls a 'jointless' crossover soundboard bracing system, which allows the top to respond vigorously!

Lowden's S25J Jazz model is a hybrid design, particularly well suited for bossa nova and fingerstyle jazz, offering a warm rich tone without sacrifice of range, comfort and playability. The 14 fret body and Venetian cutaway allow unrestricted access to the full 20 frets, and the gently radiused fingerboard and slimmer 1-7/8" nut width are particularly suited to the preferences of contemporary jazz and bossa players.

This S25J built, according to Lowden's label and serial number guide, during 2002-2003 at the Lowden plant in Newtownards, Northern Ireland - about 10 miles east of Belfast. This guitar pairs a Cedar top with Indian Rosewood for the sides, back, headstock overlay and bridge. The neck is Mahogany with an Ebony fingerboard. The rosette is Abalone. Standard hardware includes high quality Schaller tuners and a factory installed pickup system, a Fishman under saddle. This guitar is ready to gig!

This guitar is in overall very good to excellent condition, though there are a few minor marks here and there (please request up close photo's to see these better). It plays well, and has the immediate warmth and responsiveness that makes Cedar a prime choice for quality nylon string guitars. This Lowden has large sound that is resonate and also articulate, she's fantastic unplugged as well as plugged in to a nice amp, very versatile high quality instrument!
